||Careless Cavalier Crunches Case
Not many people can run over their guitars and hope to carry on playing them. But fortunately this was the case for Tony Graham of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
Tony, who owns Mill Music in Great Yarmouth, had just finished playing a gig with his folk band at the Kings Head pub in nearby Kessingland and was loading his car to go home.
"I had a new Yamaha electro-acoustic guitar worth about £600", said Tony. "I was with my girlfriend loading my Vauxhall Cavalier with all my band equipment, and I thought she had put my guitar in the car".
Assuming everything was in the car, he reversed out of the car park space and immediately ran over something big. "I got out to have a look and found that my girlfriend had left my guitar on the ground behind the rear wheels, and I had just reversed over it!"
Fortunately for Tony, his guitar was in a Hiscox case and was completely undamaged. The car wheel had run over the neck of the case and the underside of the car was left sitting on top of it. The car had to be jacked up to remove the case.
"I was completely amazed" said Tony, "I knew Hiscox cases were good, but not that good. If my guitar had been in any other case, it would have been no more than splinters"
He actually continued to use the guitar and the case for 2 more years until he sold them both as a package.
"I also had a Les Paul guitar in a Hiscox case which I dropped down a flight of stairs", Tony added "and the only damage was a bent catch on the case which I repaired. I’m very impressed with Hiscox Cases, they’ve saved two of my guitars".
A spokesman for the company said, "Because of the high quality of our products, many people perceive our cases to be expensive, but in fact, they are very competitively priced and offer a level of protection no other case in their class can match, as this incident shows, and with a 3 year Guarantee they represent unbeatable value for money."
